SEO Tactic #1: Getting Listed on Hedge Fund Directories

seo for hedge funds

These days, offsite SEO tactics get a lot of bad publicity. With spammers and technology that outdoes spammers at their own game, the modern SEO “industry” has become equivalent to what “hackers” were a decade ago: a public nuisance out to take your money and data.

Nowadays, thanks to the evolution of the internet, Google actually punishes websites who use spammy SEO tactics to get “backlinks,” or links from other sites to your hedge fund’s site. Nevertheless, backlinks are still an integral part of getting your hedge fund’s site to the top of Google’s search results.

Seem contradictory? It’s not. Just think of Google as big brother. It knows exactly whether you’re laboring by your own hand or outsourcing your website’s SEO to Indian spammers. Labor pays off. Spam doesn’t.

Getting Good Backlinks 101

I’m going to skip over the theory and get right to what works. You are going to need backlinks to your site. You are going to need them from reputable sources. You are going to need to get them manually.

This is easier than you’d expect.

Step 1

Go to Google. Type the following:

intitle:”directory” inurl:”hedge fund”

Step 2

Go through all the results in the list, one page at a time. On each site, click on the “contact” page.

Step 3

Enter your information in the contact form. For the “message” section, send the website owner a message asking to be included in the directory. Basically, you’re asking the owner to add you as a backlink. Not all owners will agree, but with good copy, you can get a high success rate. Email me for a template you can use for your hedge fund.

Step 4

Repeat steps 1 through 3 three more times, changing the code in step 1 for the following:

intitle:”hedge fund” inurl:”directory”

intitle:”listings” inurl:”hedge fund”

intitle:”hedge fund” inurl:”list”
